Innovation is putting anything into operation – idea, method or device. Innovations are aimed at considerable advance of existing product, service or process. Innovations based on informational technologies (IT-innovations) are the integral developing technologies in the sphere of information. Besides, IT-innovations are the driving force of economics.
Everybody of us is surprised every time when a new computers becomes more powerful and productive. Computers have just become compact and everyone is waiting: what will be the next rapid stride in the nearest future. We saw the computers becoming more convenient for users, the microchips getting smaller and smaller. Today the scientists suppose that the size of microchip can be decreased to the size of one atom! In order to imagine what will be the computer of future we can examine some of interesting achievements in computer technologies.
Quantum computers.
The world of quantum mechanics does not obey to the laws of general classic physics. Quantum bit (qubit) doesn’t exist in ordinary 0 or 1-áèíàðíûõ forms of today’s computer – qubit can exist in one of them or in both systems at the same time. This difference is the cause why quantum transistors make it possible to work 1 000 000 000 times faster than today’s computer. If you think that 4 GHz computer works fast just imagine the 40000 GHz one! Certainly, there are still many questions to be solved, but every day scientists make new inventions and find new methodic. Many of them think that quantum computers can become true in 5-10 years.
Optical and photonic computers.
Optical computers use in their work the speed of light but not electricity, it makes them the best data conductor. Electricity have a speed about 1/10 of light speed, but optical and photonic computers will be able to work thousand times faster than today’s computers. Today fiber-optic cables have been already used, but soon optics will be necessary only for computer switchers. A few photons can be directed to creating a switcher being used in transistors. But the light rays can cross each other, what eliminates the necessity of using big traditional systems of electric wiring. This will provide to optical computer a possibility to be as small as needed for any task.
Nanodot Storage.
Nanodot can be 50 milimicrons wide and have north and south poles. It can react on íàðóæíûå changes, so it can become the beginning of new generation of memory devices. The recent research shows that the volume of nanodot disks can 100 times exceed the volume of today’s hard disks taking less space. Nanodot seems to start the real revolution in the sphere of data storage.
Nano tube.
Today’s computer chips are located in silicone liquid, but future computer will use for this propose nano tube. The thickness of graphin lists is one atom and nano tube – one milimicron. They are supposed to become the future of transistor production because these structures have perfect physical attributes and can be used for many other materials.
Ballistic technologies.
Ballistic transistor is the new type of transistors. It can work with terahertz speed, what is almost 1000 times faster than today’s computer. Computer chips made with the help of BDT technology will be simple in production and will become the next wave of computer technologies.
There are only a few interesting technological achievements being mentioned, but in reality their number increases rapidly. The world of technologies has its own laws.
